What
is Home Care?

- Help
in maintaining the highest possible level of health and comfort
for all ages and conditions at home.
- Supportive
services, equipment and supplies provided to individuals in their
homes on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Services
of professionals such as nurses, therapists, pharmacists, home
health aides and homemakers.
- Case
management, social worker services, patient and family education,
respite care, live-in care, transportation, home infusion pharmacy,
laboratory and nutritional counseling.
- Home
medical equipment including hospital beds, wheelchairs, oxygen
and respiratory equipment, emergency response devices and other
supplies.
Why
is Home Care a Good Choice?
Home
care is often a better alternative than other forms of acute or
long term care, such as hospitalization or placement in a nursing
facility, because:
- Patients
recover more quickly at home.
- Home
Care promotes family independence.
- Patients
and families prefer home care.
- Home
care is usually less costly than hospital or skilled nursing facility
care.
-
New
medical technologies and specialized services are increasingly
available through home care providers.
The
Home Care & Hospice Division
of HAH is dedicated to promoting
quality home care and
enhancing the effectiveness
of its members.
